Since January 1st 2023, a one year medical treatment visa has been available in Thailand for international visitors. Prior to this, people wishing to visit Thailand for medical or dental treatments had to get a tourist visa (which is often given on arrival to the country depending on where you are from) or a non immigrant visa. With the new one year medical tourism visa, Thailand has made it even easier to visit, further booting it’s standing as one of the premier global destinations for healthcare travelers.

- Applicants are able to stay one year in Thailand and avoid having to procure multiple visas for extended stays in the country.
- It permits holders to enter and exit the country multiple times, with required reporting to immigration officials every 90 days.
- Visa holders are also to obtain an extension after a year with appropriate medical certificates and by paying a fee of ฿5000 Baht (approximately $135 USD).
- Three immediate family members related to the primary visa holder are also allowed to stay legally in Thailand through the medical visa program.
- Many treatments qualify for the medical visa, including but not limited to: anti-aging care, plastic surgery, dental treatments, cancer, heart disease and organ transplants.
